What is UAE gratuity | Uae Gratuity Full Explaination
UAE gratuity, also known as end-of-service benefits, is a mandatory payout owed by employers to eligible employees upon the termination of their employment. It’s a form of financial appreciation for the employee’s contribution to the company. Here’s a detailed explanation with examples:
Eligibility for Gratuity in UAE
- Employees on both limited and unlimited contracts are eligible for gratuity, provided they meet the service requirement.
- You must complete at least one year of continuous service to be eligible.
End of Service Gratuity Benefits under Full Time Contracts
UAE Gratuity Calculation Explaination
An employee or a Worker who has worked one year or more in continous service with the employer shall be entitled to an end of service gratuity upon the resigning or upon termination of his service.
Calcualtion will be done on below mentioned points and some extra special points which should be also considered while calculating Gratuity in UAE.
- If a worker or an employee has worked or served in any company or organization for less than 1 year,He/she is not entitled to any gratuity pay.
- If a worker or an employee has worked or served in any company or organization for less than 5 years, He/she will be entitled to full gratuity pay based on 21 days salary for each year of work.
- If a worker or an employee has worked or served in any company or organization for more than 5 years,he/she will be entitled to full gratuity pay of 30 days salary for each year of work following the first five years.
End of Service Gratuity Benefits Under other Employments
Number of working hours set out in the employment contract per year divided by the no of working hours in the full time contract per year multiplied by 100 equal to the percentage on which the end of service benefit should be calculated ,then this percentage should be multiplied by the end of service benefit due for the full time contract.
Important Points to consider while calculating
- The days of absence from work without pay shall not be included in the calculation for end of service gratuity.
- The total gratuity granted to employee or worker shall not exceed the wage or salary of 2 years.
- End of service gratuity is calculated on the basis of last wage (Basic salary only)
- Gratutiy will not include allowances such as housing, conveyance, utilities, furniture,etc.
- If the worker or an employee owes any money to the employer ,the employer must deduct the amount from the worker’s gratuity.
