UAE : Unemployment insurance scheme in UAE is a mandatory scheme for all the individual working in Uae that was introduced in 2022 to help everyone.

The scheme provides financial support to employees who lose their jobs through no fault of their own. The scheme is administered by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE).

It applies to all workers in the private and federal sector, except:

  • Investors
  • Business owners who own and manage their business themselves
  • Domestic workers

To be eligible for unemployment benefits, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You must have been employed and subscribed to the insurance scheme for at least 12 months.
  • You must have been terminated from your job through no fault of your own. This means that you must not have been dismissed for disciplinary reasons or because you resigned.
  • You must be actively seeking employment.

The amount of unemployment benefits you will receive depends on your basic salary. If your basic salary is AED 16,000 or less, you will receive a maximum of AED 10,000 per month. If your basic salary is more than AED 16,000, you will receive a maximum of AED 20,000 per month.

You will be eligible to receive unemployment benefits for a maximum of three months. The benefits will start from the date of your termination of employment.

To apply for unemployment benefits, you must submit an application to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE). You can do this online or at a MOHRE office.

Eligibility criteria of UAE Unemployment Insurance

What are the Benefits of UAE Unemployment insurance ?

Duration of benefits

The unemployment benefits will be paid for a maximum of 3 months. The benefits will start from the date of termination of employment.

How to apply

Uae Unemployment Insurance Deadline for registration

The deadline for registering for unemployment insurance in the UAE is October 1, 2023. Employees who fail to register by this date will be subject to a fine of AED 400.
